Downtown trolley loop to offer new summer routes and hours

Returning for another summer, the Milwaukee Trolley Loop presented by VISIT Milwaukee will connect passengers to downtown attractions beginning June 1. The new 14-stop “Hop ‘n Shop, Wine ‘n Dine” route will feature more Wisconsin Avenue highlights, including Sculpture Milwaukee, as well as shorter, 15-minute headways. In addition, the service will now operate on Sundays. Operating hours for the 2017 service are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursdays through Sundays, June 1 through August 27. Steve Marcus brings vision of public art to downtown

Sculpture Milwaukee, an outdoor urban sculpture experience in downtown Milwaukee, began installations for its June 1 to October 22 viewing season. Featuring 22 sculptures by 21 artists, the pieces will be positioned along Wisconsin Avenue from 6th Street to O’Donnell Park when the work is completed by the end of May. $500K pledge from Chris Abele to expand MATC Promise Program

The half million dollar gift will help training and scholarships for Wisconsin’s first Adult Promise Program and advance the education of 53206 ZIP code students. Chris Abele, Milwaukee county executive and community philanthropist, announced his personal commitment to give Milwaukee Area Technical College $500,000 to expand the MATC Promise Program so it can serve more people with tuition-free college.
