Alderman Stamper announces city jobs for neighborhood improvements

The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works will offer new opportunities for community based organizations (CBOs) and small businesses to participate in contract removal of grass and sidewalk snow from private property. The second annual Milwaukee César E. Chávez Day celebration will take place March 31 at Chávez Plaza in front of El Rey supermarket, 916 South César E. Chávez Drive. The Kinnickinnic Avenue BID selected the program director of Black Cat Alley to organize the street art initiative, featuring five local muralists this summer. Sheriff Clarke ruled exempt from releasing immigration records

Wisconsin Supreme Court overturned rulings by a Circuit Court judge and a unanimous Appeals Court about public access to local immigrant deportation information. The 4-2 decision from the court’s conservative majority on February 24 reverses lower-court decisions that ordered Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke to disclose the information under the state’s open records law, following a request from the immigrant advocacy group Voces de la Frontera.
