On July 16, the Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention released a video to officially mark the one-year countdown to the convention. The four-minute video, featuring elected officials representing Wisconsin, local business owners, and others, highlights the significant economic impact the convention is poised to make on a community that is already undergoing an economic and cultural renaissance. The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) recently awarded the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) with its 2019 APTA Innovation Award for the world–renowned ‘MCTS Excellence’ program. Upgrade of 310W building in Westown District sees boost for economic development downtown

Time Equities, Inc. (TEI) announced on July 18 that The Westown Association, a non-profit business and cultural association focused on championing the economic and social development of downtown Milwaukee, signed a lease at its recently rebranded 310W, located at 310 West Wisconsin Avenue. The nonprofit organization will be housed in a 2,930 rentable-square-foot space on the top floor of the 14-story tower located in the heart of Westown, a bustling district along the Milwaukee River. Northridge Mall one step closer to demolition as property owners fail to block raze order

The Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services issued a raze order against the former Northridge Mall three months ago, and a city of Milwaukee panel has declared the action reasonable. Mall owners challenged the order on July 18 before the city’s Standards and Appeals Commission. The Marcus Performing Arts Center announced on July 17 that its long-time President and CEO, Paul Mathews, will retire at the end of this year. Community leaders, local residents, and development partners came together on July 19 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of Seven04Place, a new 60-unit affordable-housing development in the Walker’s Point neighborhood of Milwaukee.
