Students at Milwaukee Public School to wear uniforms next year

The MPS Board approved a district-wide uniform policy for the 2017-18 school year, designed to improve student outcomes. The Milwaukee Board of School Directors has approved a district-wide uniform policy that will be in effect for all schools beginning in the 2017-18 school year. The policy sets basic uniform guidelines for all district schools; for example, pants must be tan, navy blue or black khaki-style pants. Wisconsin resources used improperly against Dakota Water Protectors

State Troopers have been deployed outside of Wisconsin to assist with the removal of peaceful protestors. State Representative Jonathan Brostoff, a resident of Milwaukee, issued a statement speaking out against Wisconsin’s deployment of 17 State Troopers and inspectors to North Dakota for the purpose of assisting in the removal of citizens peacefully protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). The Wisconsin State Troopers and inspectors were sent under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). Catholic Friar Tomás González Castillo, who advocates for migrants, will kick off the Marquette Democracy Project spring series on February 28.
