Milwaukee Film Festival calls for 2017 Entries

Milwaukee Film began accepting entries for the 9th annual Milwaukee Film Festival on February 28. The festival is in its sixth year of offering free submission for all films and, for the third consecutive year, Milwaukee Film will offer to pay for all work that is screened in the festival. The event runs from September 28 to October 12, 2017. Works of all genres, forms, and lengths will be considered. The deadline for all entries is June 12. Mayor Tom Barrett was joined by representatives from Ocwen to share the 2016 results of the partnership between the City and the financial services company. Students at Milwaukee Public School to wear uniforms next year

The MPS Board approved a district-wide uniform policy for the 2017-18 school year, designed to improve student outcomes. The Milwaukee Board of School Directors has approved a district-wide uniform policy that will be in effect for all schools beginning in the 2017-18 school year. The policy sets basic uniform guidelines for all district schools; for example, pants must be tan, navy blue or black khaki-style pants. Wisconsin resources used improperly against Dakota Water Protectors

State Troopers have been deployed outside of Wisconsin to assist with the removal of peaceful protestors. State Representative Jonathan Brostoff, a resident of Milwaukee, issued a statement speaking out against Wisconsin’s deployment of 17 State Troopers and inspectors to North Dakota for the purpose of assisting in the removal of citizens peacefully protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL).
