The Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Herzing University-Brookfield announced a new scholarship for LGBT individuals working in the healthcare industry on February 12. The Pride in Healthcare scholarship opens up new possibilities for members of the Greater Milwaukee LGBT community to pursue careers in healthcare and further raise awareness among all healthcare professionals of the need for increased cultural understanding when caring for and supporting coworkers of the LGBT population. Voters reminded to get proper ID before Spring Primary

The Wisconsin Elections Commission issued a reminder to voters that there is still time to get the appropriate photo ID they will need to vote in the Spring Primary on February 20. Wisconsin’s voter ID law, enacted in 2011 after Republicans took control of the legislature and the statehouse, requires citizens to show a driver’s license, a passport, a naturalization certificate or one of several other fairly uncommon documents before casting a ballot. County Parks to seek state grant for Lake Park bridge project funding

Milwaukee County Parks has applied for a $1.5m grant from the Wisconsin Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) program to help fund replacement of the Ravine Road Bridge in Lake Park. The goal of the project is to preserve the historical character of Lake Park by replacing the bridge with a structure that closely matches its original architecture and design. A 20-member Ravine Road Bridge committee, as well as public workgroups, selected replacement of the bridge, in-kind, as the preferred alternative for addressing the deterioration of the bridge.
