WWBIC receives $1M Federal grant for expanding loans to lower-income entrepreneurs

WWBIC (The Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation) received recently that the organization has been awarded $1 million from the federal CDFI Fund. The award will allow the nonprofit serve more people with business and micro loan financial products and business assistance services. Vincent Lyles steps down from longtime leadership of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee (BGCGM) announced on September 20 that Vincent Lyles has informed the BGCGM Board of Trustees of his resignation as the president and CEO. Lyles informed the Board of Trustees of his resignation now in order to allow the BGCGM time to begin its search for its new president and CEO. MilWALKee Walks aims to improve street safety and end pedestrian fatalities

No one should die crossing the street. While pedestrian deaths in Milwaukee have decreased from 17 at this time last year to 12, Milwaukee is still over-represented in pedestrian deaths, with 10% of the state population but 44% of the pedestrian fatalities, almost identical to the 45% in 2017 (as of 9/9/18). Nonprofit newsrooms to participate in national initiative to fund independent Journalism

NewsMatch will double individual gifts to trusted news organizations for another record-setting year. In 2017 NewsMatch helped to raise more than $4.8 million from individual donors and a coalition of private funders.
