Tony Evers fires back at Wisconsin GOP’s “Unprecedented abuse of power”

Wisconsin Republicans unveiled their sweeping plans to seize power at the end of the day on Friday, November 30, for a special lame-duck legislative session to be held on Monday, December 3. The effort would elevate the authority of a GOP gerrymandered Legislature, restrict the authority of the new democratically elected governor, limit in-person early voting to two-weeks, as well as push the 2020 primary election date earlier from April to March....

Facebook admits using dirty tricks to silence critics in Thanksgiving Eve news dump

In a blog post, Elliot Schrage, the tech giant’s outgoing head of...

Amazon.com pitched its facial recognition technology to ICE for mass surveillance

According to documents released on October 23 by the Project on Government Oversight, earlier this year Amazon employees met with Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to market “Rekognition” — the company’s facial recognition technology that we have been sounding the alarm on for months. The prospect of the Trump administration using facial recognition to supercharge its deportation machine is very alarming indeed. So to find out what’s happening, we filed a Freedom of Information Act request on Wednesday demanding that the Department of Homeland Security release information relating to where and how it intends to use facial recognition as...
