Hotels begin sprouting in Milwaukee ahead of 2020 Democratic National Convention

Drury Hotels Company’s first property in Wisconsin, a historic renovation of the First Financial Centre building in Milwaukee, is close to completion and is scheduled to welcome guests in time for the Democratic National Convention next summer. The space for the new Drury Plaza Hotel Milwaukee Downtown has taken two years to renovate and preserve. Nō Studios names recipients of inaugural “Artist in Residence” program for emerging filmmakers

Marquette University recently launched the first two Emerging Filmmaker Fellowships in conjunction with Nō Studios creative arts hub. Vianca Fuster and Shannon McInnis joined the “Artist in Residence” program that will run through March 30, 2020. The Emerging Filmmaker Fellowship program gives filmmakers resources and support, including a collaborative place to work, filmmaking and editing equipment, and mentorship. Bader Philanthropies offers funding to expand local programs that serve Milwaukee veterans

The Center for Veteran’s Issues (CVI) recently received $282,000 in financial support from Bader Philanthropies in order for the organization to provide more services in Milwaukee and across the region. As the largest community-based veterans services organization in the state, CVI delivers wrap-around services to veterans and family members throughout Wisconsin. Originally founded in 1989, CVI has become an overarching entity for a number of short- and long-term residency programs for veterans.
