7-Eleven program to restore greenhouse at Silver Spring Neighborhood Center

The 7-Eleven “Green Team” of volunteers, along with Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful, are working to restore the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center’s greenhouse as a part of their new reduced emissions program, RENEW, to provide more sustainable options to the city. The RENEW program allows drivers to help reduce their carbon footprint, even as they drive. The Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation awarded Jim Kelly the 28th Annual Vince Lombardi Award of Excellence. Kelly, an NFL Hall of Fame Inductee and two-time cancer survivor, recently announced that his cancer has returned. The Vince Lombardi Award of Excellence recognizes Kelly for his continued strength and excellence both on and off the field. Kelly was selected in the first round of the 1983 NFL draft. Public garden aims to harness the healing power of nature

The Conservancy for Healing and Heritage, a nonprofit organization that owns a 36-acre parcel of land featuring Milwaukee County’s only southern kettle and glacier lake, recently announced plans for southeast Wisconsin’s first independently-owned, public healing garden. The Conservancy, located at 7410 W. Rawson Ave. in Franklin, is adjacent to the Reiman Cancer Center, and includes a chapel, walking trails, and Kopmeier Lake, a 35-foot deep, spring-fed kettle lake.
