As a young girl, Norma Duckworth found America a place of wealth but desperately wanted to return to her home in the poor countryside of Mexico. Food has always been a part of her life, as a bond with family loved ones and a hardship when it was scarce. Unity Lutheran Church in Bay View hosted a Winter Farmers Market and brunch on January 14, connecting sustainable agriculture with its faith-based mission of community outreach. After overlooking Wisconsin last year in its Women’s Day protest march, the organization’s 2018 National Day of Action Anniversary event was held in Milwaukee on January 20. Discovery World’s 360° VR exhibit immerses students in simulated journeys

Replacing the original 360° VR experience of Discovery World’s HIVE (Hybrid Interactive Virtual Education) display, the Virtual Explorer exhibit incorporates new technology that transports visitors into several hyper-real environments. Opened in partnership with MilliporeSigma in the fall of 2017, the Virtual Explorer uses a custom launcher built with help from the Zizzo Group, a Milwaukee-based marketing firm. MCTS Bus Driver Karen Martinez-Casper received some well deserved attention from the public for her act of kindness, during the Milwaukee Bucks game on January 10.
