The Road America track in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin has held racing events since 1955, over a beautiful 4.048 mile roadway.

From 1950 to 1955 the race course ran through the actual streets of Elkhart Lake. As a result of the safety concerns with using public roads, the track moved in 1952 to a closed course. Since 1955, the track has been a destination for world-class drivers. The appeal to spectators is that the course retains its original rural feel, with country scenery surrounding the speedway and close access for viewers.

Campsites are also available for anyone who wants to spend a complete weekend attending, and many fans arrive in campers as an annual tradition. Even with the modern amenities, many older spectators remember the fun they had in the 1970s, when limited options meant they usually roughed it out in the mud. The venue still averages about 400 events per year, and attracts many vintage race car clubs.

This collection of photographs range from each decade beginning in 1973, and into the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. They feature many of the old buildings and course facilities that were iconic for Road America.
