The event will kick off with the cheese tasting in the warm glow of the Fireplace Room.

A Wisconsin-cheese tasting, harvest-stew sampling, and silent auction will make up the “Flavors of Fall,” Saturday, Nov. 12, from 5-7:30 p.m. at Wehr Nature Center. The fundraising event will support Wehr’s Accessibility Project. The Nature Center is located at 9701 W. College Ave. in Whitnall Park.

The event will kick off with the cheese tasting in the warm glow of the Fireplace Room. Artisanal cheeses from some of Wisconsin’s fine cheesemakers will be available for sampling. The Beer Barons of Milwaukee will share a seasonal beer brewed especially for the event.

At 6 p.m., the stew sampling will commence. Featured will be three stews—one vegetarian—all made from locally-grown produce. In addition, the menu will include salad, breads, homemade dessert, and coffee, soda, or water. One complimentary beer or glass of wine is included with the meal. Additional beer or wine drink tokens will be available for purchase.

Throughout the evening, visitors may bid on items in the silent auction. Items include original artwork, wine and beer baskets, jewelry, holiday-themed items, and homemade ready-to-bake pies. Bid winners will be announced at the end of the evening.

Funds raised will go toward the accessibility project at the Nature Center. Inspired by the well-received Accessible Viewing Deck and boardwalk, the Friends of Wehr continue to raise funds to improve access to the Center and its natural areas for visitors with limited mobility.

Admission is $25 per person. Additional wine or beer tokens may be purchased for $5 each. Reservations are suggested. Walk-ins will be welcomed as long as space is available.
