Industrial District of West St. Paul Avenue recognized in State historical registry

The Wisconsin Historical Society has listed the West St. Paul Avenue Industrial Historic District, in Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley, on the State Register of Historic Places. This district consists of 22 industrial buildings along 10 blocks between 11th and 21st streets. Each of these properties is now eligible for historic tax credits, which help offset costs associated with restoring historic buildings. Grotto of the Virgin Mary to be installed behind Joan of Arc Chapel

Marquette University President Michael R. Lovell announced that a grotto of the Blessed Virgin will be installed just west of the St. Joan of Arc Chapel on the campus grounds. The grotto will be in place by the beginning of the 2018-19 academic year. President Lovell recently completed an intensive 18-month Ignatian Colleagues Program (ICP) based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, integrating university mission into the way leaders lead, teach and live. New study reviews stability of Metro Milwaukee’s teacher workforce

Metro Milwaukee’s teacher workforce shows increased stability, but departing teachers are increasingly younger and newer to the profession. A new report released recently by the Milwaukee-based Public Policy Forum finds that teacher workforce challenges observed two years ago in both metro Milwaukee and across the state are not as severe, as overall turnover has diminished and the supply of new teachers appears to be meeting the demand created by those departing.
