John McGivern’s PBS show among big winners at Regional Emmys

Public television in southeastern Wisconsin had a big night at the 2017 Emmy Awards Gala. Milwaukee PBS was honored with three regional Emmys, the most it has received in recent years. The ceremony held was on December 2 by the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Ambassador Hotel to celebrate 90th Anniversary with 1920s style gala

As the Ambassador Hotel prepares to celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2018, hotel management announced plans for “A Roaring 20’s New Year’s Eve” party to kick off their celebration. The hotel’s Embassy Room will be transformed into a 1920’s speakeasy, complete with gaming tables. Milwaukee Streetcar reaches deal with Transit Workers Union

The private agreement ensures that workers running the streetcar system will be able to join the transit union. Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 998, the Milwaukee transit workers union, recently announced a labor peace agreement for The Milwaukee Streetcar with Transdev, the company contracted to run the City’s new streetcar system. Diverse & Resilient awarded Cream City Foundation grant for HIV programs

In response to a compressive needs assessment they conducted, Cream City Foundation announced recently a grant award to support HIV/STI testing, prevention and treatment services. The funding makes it possible for Holton Street Clinic to imbed a Registered Nurse and a Clinic Assistant two afternoons per week at the Diverse & Resilient office. Sign Language Interpreter’s Bill gets strong support in State Legislature

Assembly Bill (AB) 589 would restructure the current system for licensing sign language interpreters to create qualification levels and allow more interpreters to gain employment faster while providing consumer protections.
