Denis Sullivan makes long voyage across Milwaukee’s freshwater sea

The S/V Denis Sullivan left Discovery World for Port Washington on June 1 for the maiden excursion of its 5-hour Lazy Day Sail program. The world’s only re-creation of a 19th Century Great Lakes Schooner offered its first day trip, nearly tripling the time and distance of its regular sailing tours. Local residents are being asked to give feedback on the location of the proposed East-West BRT dedicated lanes, as well as the locations and design of the planned stations, at two public meetings held on June 7 and 8. Maidens win Milwaukee Roller Derby championship

The 2017 roller derby season for the Brewcity Bruisers (BCB) came to a climactic finish on May 27 at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, when Maiden Milwaukee won the championship bout for the first time in the team’s 11 year league history. The Maidens won 122-120 in overtime against the Rushin’ Rollettes, in a highly emotional bout that saw an outpouring of support from opposing team members and fans alike.
