The 32nd Annual PrideFest Milwaukee officially kicks off on June 7 at the Henry W. Maier Festival Park, joining the National LGBTQ Pride Month celebration. PrideFest 2019 held a short preview tour of the festival grounds for local media on June 5, joined by Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. Mayor Tom Barrett kicks off Walk 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge for a healthier 2019

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett’s sixth annual summer health initiate launched on June 3 from the City Hall Rotunda for a one-mile walk that combined excise, community, and a photo op with the Bucks mascot, Bango. The Walk 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge kick off event began with a group led stretch, followed by a motivational pep talk from Mayor Barrett, and a raffle for prizes. Carlos Rolón: Sharing culture and identity in Sculpture Milwaukee’s largest artwork

Incremental weather throughout the month of May delayed or slowed the weeks of effort by Sculpture Milwaukee to transform the city’s main thoroughfare of Wisconsin Avenue into a outdoor art showcase. One of the signature exhibits for the 2019 collection includes a building-sized installation by Midwest native Carlos Rolón. Threads of Remembrance: Milwaukee hosts touring exhibit of the 9/11 Memorial Quilts

As part of a national tour, the 9/11 World Trade Center Memorial Quilt Project visited Milwaukee during the week leading up to Memorial Day. Hosted by the Milwaukee County Historical Society, the exhibit represented a time when people across America from diverse backgrounds came together for the purpose of paying tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11. MPS partners with Educators Credit Union for new program to teach students financial literacy

Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) hosted a special celebration at Victory Italian Immersion School on May 8, where its entire class of fifth-grade students had completed the EVERFI program sponsored by Educators Credit Union (ECU). EVERFI is a financial literacy tool that teaches students about saving money, planning for college, and protecting personal information.
