$25M capital campaign plans to transform Milwaukee County Zoo over the next 25 years

The Zoological Society of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee County Zoo announced a capital campaign to the public on May 24, as part of a plan to help reimagine the Zoo over the next quarter century. The Northwestern Mutual Foundation recently announced a three-year commitment to Discovery World totaling $600,000. Milwaukee Arts organizations share $227K in grants from City’s art board

The City of Milwaukee Arts Board (MAB) recently approved $227,500 in grants, ranging from $3,500 to $7,000, to be awarded between 35 local nonprofit arts organizations. At its May meeting, the MAB considered the recommendations of a seven-member citizen review panel and approved the grants, which require a dollar-for-dollar cash match from other sources. Residents join to make Harambee neighborhood healthier in massive 160 block cleanup

Volunteers and community leaders are came together on May 19 for an inaugural cleanup of 160 city blocks within the Harambee neighborhood in Milwaukee. It was the first community cleanup of this magnitude in Harambee, and organizers coordinated their resources to put hundreds of area volunteers in place for the event. The Inaugural Harambee Community Cleanup focused on the neighborhood from North Holton Street west to Interstate 43 and West North Avenue north to West Capitol Drive.
