City leaders commute by bicycle for start of Wisconsin Bike Week

To celebrate the start of Wisconsin Bike Week on June 4, Common Council President Ashanti Hamilton and Alderman Nik Kovac led groups of cycling advocates from the northern suburbs to Red Arrow Park. Heal the Hood block party series works to build a stronger community for 7th year

The seventh annual Heal the Hood block party was held next to Clinton Rose Park in the Harambee neighborhood of Milwaukee on May 26, attracting hundreds of area residents to the community gathering and resource fair. MCTS extends PurpleLine for direct bus service to Oak Creek’s IKEA

Workers and shoppers have a new option for traveling to the recently-opened IKEA store in Oak Creek, riding on the bus. Starting June 3, the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) PurpleLine (27th Street) will begin seven day a week service to IKEA, with an extension to Drexel Avenue and Ikea Way. Backpacks among restricted items in new Summerfest security policy

Summerfest will be implementing enhancements to its security measures, in line with other major venues and stadiums around the country, for the safety of all visitors. The most significant change is the prohibition of backpacks of any size on the festival grounds. The tighter policies will be enforced at Summerfest 2018. $25M capital campaign plans to transform Milwaukee County Zoo over the next 25 years

The Zoological Society of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee County Zoo announced a capital campaign to the public on May 24, as part of a plan to help reimagine the Zoo over the next quarter century. Discovery World expansion gets further support with $600K in funding

The Northwestern Mutual Foundation recently announced a three-year commitment to Discovery World totaling $600,000.
