Third Space Brewing prepares for major expansion

Third Space Brewing, the award-winning Milwaukee craft brewery, recently announced its next major production expansion as well as plans for a wholesale distribution partnership. The production expansion, which is scheduled to begin in Spring 2018 at the company’s brewery, 1505 W. St. Paul Avenue, will include: The addition of two 90-barrel fermentation tanks and one 90-barrel “bright” tank. Wisconsin youth prisons to close in wake of unconstitutional and inhumane conditions

The Walker administration and the Department of Corrections announced on January 4 that they will be closing the Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake state-run youth correctional facilities in Irma. The decision comes following an injunction secured by the ACLU of Wisconsin and Juvenile Law Center through a class action civil rights lawsuit in federal court centered on the use of solitary confinement, pepper spray, shackling, and strip searches of children. Faith-based coalition to award 14 scholarships at MLK Celebration

Fourteen current college students and college-bound high school seniors will each receive a $1,000 scholarship at the 42nd annual Martin Luther King Scholarship Coalition Celebration on January 7. Public Policy Forum releases annual public school report card

The Public Policy Forum’s annual analysis of data from southeast Wisconsin’s public school districts found progress on some college readiness indicators and largely positive showings on district report cards. HUD awards $1.3M to support Milwaukee HIV-AIDS housing programs

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced over $1.3 million to assist low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS and their families in Wisconsin. The funding is offered through HUD’s Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS Program (HOPWA) and will provide a combination of housing assistance and supportive services for this vulnerable population.
