MillerCoors water conservation saved 15 billion gallons in 2016

Strong relationships with growers, innovative techniques at breweries and favorable weather lead to significant reductions in water use for last year. MillerCoors announced it used 15 billion fewer gallons of water across its value chain in 2016. The reduction can be attributed to changes in farming techniques that include innovative tools and irrigation initiatives that use less water while still producing high-quality barley, along with increased brewery efficiencies. Milwaukee to get $100K grant supporting inclusion in City contracting

Mayor Tom Barrett, the Citi Foundation, and Living Cities announced the expansion of the City Accelerator program to Milwaukee. Five cities, including Milwaukee, will work together over the next year to refine approaches to procurement spending, pursuing at least one new strategy to increase the diversity of municipal vendors and contractors and direct more spending to local minority-owned businesses. UWM Zilber School attains national public health accreditation

The Joseph J. Zilber School of Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has attained national accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health, making it the first accredited school of public health in Wisconsin. Zilber Family Foundation awards $2.19M in grants for improving community life

At its spring meeting, the board of directors of the Zilber Family Foundation awarded 27 grants totaling $2,196,100 to nonprofit organizations in Milwaukee. The Foundation provides grants that address the causes and consequences of poverty in Clarke Square, Layton Boulevard West, Lindsay Heights, and other city neighborhoods.
