WEDC awards $500K grant to Milwaukee seed fund for accelerator programs

Milwaukee was one of three economic development organizations to be awarded a matching grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), to be used to provide seed funding for technology-based startups and early-stage companies. The Milwaukee Development Corporation received a $500,000 grant under WEDC’s Capital Catalyst Program for the creation of a $1 million seed fund to support companies in advanced manufacturing and other technology sectors. Additional aerial acts to perform at Milwaukee Air and Water Show

The 2017 Milwaukee Air and Water Show will take place from July 15 to 16 the Milwaukee lakefront. Organizers of the Milwaukee Air and Water Show announced additional acts slated to perform in a press release on March 15. In addition to the US Navy Blue Angels, the other groups to join the line-up include the US Army Golden Knights Parachute Demonstration Team, Team Aerostars, Firebirds Xtreme, Lucas Oil Airshows, and A-4 Skyhawk. Beer Garden profits help fund Humboldt Park repairs

The County Board’s Parks Committee adopted a resolution on March 14 to allocate $27,000 for repairs and upgrades to the Humboldt Park restroom facilities. The county’s $27,000 grant will match $4,000 from the Humboldt Park Friends group and $23,000 from a private account that is funded by a portion of all beverage sales at the beer garden. “Every pint of beer sold at the beer garden helped made this possible,” said Supervisor Jason Haas. “With the completion of these repairs, for the first time in decades we will have newly remodeled, comfortable and fully accessible restrooms at Humboldt Park.”...
