Cristo Rey Jesuit High School to relocate by Fall 2019

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Milwaukee announced the purchase of a property located at 1818 W. National Avenue, which will become the new location for the school currently projected for fall of 2019. This new location is a part of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Milwaukee’s long-term strategic plan. MCTS JobLines ridership reaches record high numbers

With 2017 bringing Milwaukee’s unemployment rate to a 20-year low, the Milwaukee County Transit Systems’ JobLines (routes 6 and 61) are seeing record ridership, as the routes – now in their third year – continue to connect over 1,000 of Milwaukee’s urban residents to high-paying jobs at more than 150 employers in Waukesha and Washington counties. From August to September, month-to-month average daily ridership rose by 11%, while in the third quarter of 2017, average daily ridership increased by 16%, with route 61 alone reaching nearly 1,000 average daily riders–its highest ever since funding began in 2014. Milwaukee’s Riverwalk wins prestigious global award for excellence

Milwaukee’s RiverWalk, more than three miles of pedestrian access to the shore of the Milwaukee River, has won a 2017-2018 Global Award of Excellence from the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Near West Side Partners revitalize neighborhoods one house at a time

Revitalize Milwaukee completed critical repairs to revitalize eight homes in the Miller Valley neighborhood on November 4. The day included 180 volunteers who completed extensive home repairs and beautification work. Block Build – Near West Side is an extension of the Revitalize Milwaukee year-round program where one home is repaired every day of the year for a total of 340 homes. Federal Government rejects Milwaukee County’s 287g bid after community outcry

On November 14 the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) rejected an application to give Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputies authority to separate immigrant families under the 287g program. DHS did, however, approve 287g applications from Waukesha County and 22 other jurisdictions nationwide. Oak Leaf Trail reconstruction to solve East Side drainage problems

Reconstruction to address drainage problems along the East Side Oak Leaf Trail, from East Belleview Place to North Prospect Avenue will begin in early November.
