Iconic bronze angel statue of Schroeder family stolen from Forest Home Cemetery

The 6-foot tall bronze statue depicting an angel was stolen from the Schroeder family plot at Forest Home Cemetery, near 27th Street and Forest Home Avenue, sometime between August 18 and 27. The Milwaukee Police Department is asking the local community for assistance to identify the individual or group involved with the heist of the historic and very personal monument. The angel, one of several others in Section 33 of Forest Home, stood watch for decades over the interred members of the Schroeder family. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett told north side residents on August 25 that the Fondy Farmers Market and new Fondy Park would begin offering free Internet access via public Wi-Fi 365 days a year. August 14 marked the end of the year-long Moving Milwaukee Forward project for the Equitable Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Planning Study on the North Side, as the Department of City Development and the Historic King Drive Business Improvement District shared their draft plan with the public. Plane crash takes life of US Army Parachute Team member who performed in Milwaukee

The 2018 Milwaukee Air & Water Show took place along the city’s lakefront on July 21 and 22, and the Milwaukee Independent accompanied the Golden Knights parachute team for their demonstration jump and several attempts, getting to know the highly skilled team members.
