No Studios, a new hub for the creative arts in downtown Milwaukee, will hold its grand opening the weekend of October 12 to 14 featuring a series of open house and special event opportunities. Harley-Davidson announced on September 5 that it will establish a new research and development facility in Northern California to support its future product portfolio, including the company’s first complete line of electric vehicles. Port of Milwaukee gains attention as destination for passenger cruise ships

The Milwaukee seaport welcomed two cruise ships simultaneously on August 31, bringing close to 300 leisure travelers from around the world to explore the city. Relegated to just a blip on the radar for cruise activity in past years, Milwaukee has been actively working to increase tourism traffic via the Great Lakes. Civic project proposes rainbow crosswalks to honor LGBT heritage of Cathedral Square

Milwaukee Pride, in partnership with local LGBT and neighborhood organizations, has advanced a proposal to Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett‘s office requesting the installation of rainbow crosswalks in Cathedral Square. The proposal calls for the rainbow crosswalks to be dedicated in the memory of June Brehm. In 1968, June Brehm opened This Is It! at 419 E. The organizer of downtown’s Milwaukee Holiday Parade, the Holiday Parade Foundation of Milwaukee, announced on August 29 that the 2017 parade was its last. The DeGrace family has organized the free annual event for 66 years and has retired, bringing a halt to the annual parade for 2018. Developer begins process to evict U.S. Postal Service from Menomonee River location

A Chicago-based developer who purchased the 1.1 million square foot facility at 345 W. St. Paul Avenue in downtown Milwaukee three years ago recently announced via Twitter that he had filed an eviction notice against the United States Postal Service (USPS).
