Women in Film: Gender representation is a priority at 2018 Milwaukee Film Festival

Nearly half of the films being screened at the 10th Annual Milwaukee Film Festival are directed by women, a 19% increase in the amount of feature films produced by women in a single year. In 2017, women comprised only 27.73% of feature film directors at the festival and 37.84% of directors overall. The 10th Annual Milwaukee Film Festival showcases 142 films directed by women, out of 304 total films. Milwaukee Pride joins history project to preserve LGBT heritage across Wisconsin

Milwaukee Pride, Inc. recently announced it will take stewardship of the celebrated Wisconsin LGBT History Project, in honor of National LGBT History Month and the approaching WorldPride NYC and Stonewall 50 celebration. The Project, which originated as a PrideFest tent exhibit in 1995, is now the state’s largest digital collection of local LGBT history. Complete Streets policy unanimously approved by Milwaukee Common Council

By unanimous vote, the City of Milwaukee Common Council will advance a Complete Streets policy that will help make streets safer for people walking, taking transit, biking or driving. Sponsored by ten Alderpersons, the policy was developed by the Department of Public Works in a partnership with residents and community organizations to improve health, safety, and mobility for the people of Milwaukee. Time-Lapse: 28 months of Fiserv Forum construction in 84 seconds

On October 18, the day before the Milwaukee Bucks season home opener against the Indiana Pacers, time-lapse construction video of the Fiserv Forum’s construction was released for public viewing. As Bucks fans headed to the new basketball arena, EarthCam presented a special time-lapse movie that condensed 2 years and 4 months of construction into one minute and twenty-four seconds. “Hop-able” Open House showcases Streetcars’s accessibility features

The Hop, presented by Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, hosted a special “Hop-able” open house on October 10 at the Burns Commons streetcar platform, to provide an opportunity for Milwaukee residents living with disabilities to get a sneak preview of The Hop and the accessibility features of the vehicles.
