Free museum day with Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s gift to the community

Helping ensure everyone in the Milwaukee community has access to opportunities that enrich their lives, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation is continuing Gifts to the Community in 2017 with a summer Saturday of free admission at the Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM). Milwaukee community raises $289K for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin

The campaign raised more than $19.8 million nationwide to support Feeding America and its nationwide network of food banks. Walmart announced that Milwaukee residents generated a total of $289,268.76 for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin to help fight hunger in eastern Wisconsin. Walmart’s “Fight Hunger. Spark Change.” campaign encouraged people across the nation to take action against hunger and help families in need through simple acts of support online, in-store purchases and donations. Workforce leaders met in Milwaukee to create unprecedented regional partnership

Workforce leaders from across the Midwest, along with the U.S. Department of Labor, met recently in Milwaukee to sign an agreement creating the Midwest Urban Strategies Consortium. The groundbreaking initiative is the first of its kind in the country made up of urban workforce development boards, created as a regional mechanism to drive economic growth. MillerCoors water conservation saved 15 billion gallons in 2016

Strong relationships with growers, innovative techniques at breweries and favorable weather lead to significant reductions in water use for last year. MillerCoors announced it used 15 billion fewer gallons of water across its value chain in 2016. The reduction can be attributed to changes in farming techniques that include innovative tools and irrigation initiatives that use less water while still producing high-quality barley, along with increased brewery efficiencies. Milwaukee to get $100K grant supporting inclusion in City contracting

Mayor Tom Barrett, the Citi Foundation, and Living Cities announced the expansion of the City Accelerator program to Milwaukee.
