Photo Essay: Sights through a corridor of Milwaukee

A handful of photographers participated in “Another Walk Across Milwaukee,” each with a different view of the same 84 city blocks along North Avenue, as captured in their unique images exploring the same path by foot.

Photographer Tim Holte has traveled around the world and adapted that view to see his hometown with fresh eyes. This companion photo essay covers the same visual territory of the October 6, 2017 North Avenue journey as the project’s featured segments. However, Holte’s pictures focus more on the commercial aspects of the corridor, showing signage and storefronts from its faith, food, and fashion enterprises.

The vertical photos are accent images by Janeen Kagel from the same 5.5 mile route, that offer yet another perspective of familiar sights along the artery that connects Lake Michigan to the City of Wauwatosa.
