Photo Essay: Sailing the Great Lakes

The world’s only re-creation of a 19th century three-masted Great Lakes schooner will join the 2016 Tall Ships Festival as it visits two port cities during the sailing event from August 12 to September 19.

The Sailing Vessel Denis Sullivan is a modern educational classroom that has two diesel engines, a scientific laboratory, two computer workstations, with modern communication and navigation equipment. This photo essay highlights what a sailing experience is like in Milwaukee, as a prelude to its longer Great Lakes adventure which is also open for members of the public to participate in.
