Photo Essay: Cyclists support the Arts with lakefront ride

The United Performing Art Fund’s (UPAF) 35th Annual Ride for the Arts took place on June 5, with several thousand participants riding as far north as Ozaukee County. The non-competition ride has been part of UPAF’s public fundraising campaign that supports a dozen local organizations. Since it began in 1981, the event has raised more than $8.5 million dollars for the performing arts in Milwaukee. The goal for this year is to raise $600,000. Four routes took cyclists from the Summerfest grounds and across the Hoan Bridge for either a 70-, 45-, or 25-mile ride, with a shorter 10-mile family-friendly course.

This photo essay features moments from the 2016 biking event, where people of all ages joined in support of the Arts in Milwaukee.
