The story of Levi Fisher Ames unfolds in a room in the Madison Veterans Hospital in 1923, but Levi’s memories and fantasies take the audience through his return from the Civil War, his post-war healing, his emergence as an artist, his conflict with his troubled son, his evolution as an entertainer, and finally his fond farewell to his loving wife and his life’s work. “Hop-able” Open House showcases Streetcars’s accessibility features

The Hop, presented by Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, hosted a special “Hop-able” open house on October 10 at the Burns Commons streetcar platform, to provide an opportunity for Milwaukee residents living with disabilities to get a sneak preview of The Hop and the accessibility features of the vehicles. Mayor Tom Barrett and Milwaukee Water Works Superintendent Jennifer Gonda unveiled a baseball-themed tribute to the Milwaukee Brewers with a redesigned fire hydrant on October 12. Coalition pressures Shorewood to proceed with play based on Harper Lee’s novel

The National Coalition Against Censorship urged the Shorewood School District to reverse its decision to cancel Shorewood High School’s production of To Kill A Mockingbird and re-schedule the production. This and other public pressure appears to have succeed. Harper Lee’s classic novel has been controversial since its publication, when taught in classrooms and when performed as a play.
