Merrill Park to host student summit for Milwaukee Tennis Classic

The Milwaukee Tennis Classic, The Al Hurvis/ADAMM Educational Foundation, Summit Educational Association, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Women’s Tennis Team partnered to present the MTC/Summit Kids Tennis Day on September 16. The community service event at Merrill Park on 461 N. 35th Street, will connect the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Women’s Tennis Student-Athletes to the young children of Milwaukee. The student-athletes will work with 40 to 60 Summit Scholars in a fun and interactive program. Marina Walker Guevara, deputy director of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and coordinator of The Panama Papers investigation, will keynote the 2017 Burleigh Media Ethics Lecture on September 19 at Marquette University. Wisconsin Department of Justice establishes Human Trafficking Bureau

In a statewide assessment, law enforcement in nearly every county in Wisconsin reported that human trafficking occurs in their community. American Family Insurance will sponsor the project to link Summerfest grounds to downtown Milwaukee. Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. officials announced that The Historic Third Ward Architectural Review Board unanimously approved plans to reconstruct the North Entry Gate of Henry Maier Festival Park and develop a new Community Plaza, adjacent to Urban Park. Sculpture Milwaukee releases mobile tour app with interactive features

Sculpture Milwaukee recently rolled out a virtual experience for viewing its 22 sculptures along Wisconsin Avenue. Developed by Graydient Creative, the newly debuted Sculpture Milwaukee app features an audio tour, “hearts” for users to like their favorite sculptures, custom photo filters and a scavenger hunt. The exclusive audio tour gives users a full description of the artist and their sculpture, and is also available in Spanish. WEDC offering grants to advance climate for entrepreneurship

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is accepting applications from nonprofit and community-based organizations for a grant program designed to advance the statewide climate for entrepreneurship. The Entrepreneurship Support Program provides financial assistance of between $10,000 and $100,000 for projects that promote entrepreneurship and provide Wisconsin entrepreneurs with key resources, including training, mentorship, and business development and financial services.
