UW-Milwaukee suspends in-person classes after spring break until April due to coronavirus concerns

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee announced on March 11 that it will suspend in-person instruction after spring break until April 10. Classes will be offered through alternate means, including online. A University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee employee tested positive for the novel coronavirus on March 9. School officials said the person became ill after having contact with an individual who visited a country with a Level 3 warning. The Greater Milwaukee 2020 Census Complete Count Committee reminded the public about the upcoming 2020 Census and encouraged every household in the greater Milwaukee area to participate. The U.S. Census, a count of the entire U.S. population, is mandated by Article 1, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution and takes place every 10 years. The tally must include people of ALL ages, races and ethnic groups regardless of their citizenship status. State awards $4.9M grant to support agricultural transload facility at Port Milwaukee

Governor Tony Evers announced a $4.9 million Harbor Assistance Program grant on February 24 to support the construction of a new agricultural commodity bulk vessel transload facility at Port Milwaukee. The $31.3 million facility, the first of its kind on the Great Lakes, is being constructed at the port by the DeLong Company. The transload facility will initially export dried distillers grain, an animal feed supplement that is a byproduct of Wisconsin’s ethanol industry.
