Milwaukee Milkmen deliver schedule for inaugural 2019 independent baseball season

The Milwaukee Milkmen recently released their schedule for the team’s inaugural 2019 American Association of Independent Baseball League season. The Milkmen will open the season with a pair of road trips including a four-game series against Saint Paul starting on May 16 and a four-game tilt at Fargo-Moorhead starting May 20. The Right to Shelter: Street Angels calls for public care of homeless people in winter

The volunteer-based nonprofit organization, Street Angels Milwaukee Outreach, held a silent protest on November 17 at 6th and Clybourn Streets to demand that homeless people in Milwaukee receive protection from the freezing temperatures this winter. Air temperatures of 30° to 50° can cause hypothermia, and homeless individuals are exposed to far lower temperatures for extended periods of time over Milwaukee’s long winter months. U.S. Senate approves designation of Vel R. Phillips Post office in Harambee

The Senate of the United States of America passed legislation on November 15 that designated the U.S. Post Office, located at 2650 North Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Drive in Milwaukee, as the “Vel R. Phillips Post Office Building.” U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin co-introduced the legislation to designate the facility on September 19, to honor Milwaukee’s pioneering civil rights activist who passed away earlier this year. Barrett Lo Visionary Development released an animated rendering of The Couture on November 9, created by the project’s Milwaukee-based design firm Rinka Chung Architecture, to show the next phase of evolution for the city skyline. More than 16,000 rides were taken during the inaugural Grand Hop-ening Weekend of passenger service for Milwaukees Streetcar fleet.
