Common Council creates organizations to address policies for Veterans and workforce retention

The City of Milwaukee Common Council approved two resolutions on November 26, for the creation of an Office of Veterans’ Affairs and a Millennial Task Force focused on issues for the city’s under 40 workforce. The full Common Council approved an ordinance creating an Office of Veterans’ Affairs in the City of Milwaukee. The legislation was authored by Alderwoman Chantia Lewis, and makes Milwaukee the 8th city nationally with such an office. Wisconsin joins coalition lawsuit against EPA’s effort to revoke clear air standards

Attorney General Kaul joined a coalition of 24 states and 2 cities on November 15 in filing a lawsuit opposing the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) attempt to revoke the portions of a waiver it granted California in 2013 that permit the state to implement its greenhouse gas (GHG) and zero emission vehicle (ZEV) standards. Businesses in the Menomonee River Valley, led by We Energies, are donating to the Housing First program, to help those who are facing homelessness move to safe, stable housing.
