Irena Ivic: MCTS Driver honored for rescuing lost baby on freeway overpass

A bus driver for the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) was celebrated on January 10 for rescuing a baby girl spotted wandering alone on a city street. Milwaukee parenting program gets much needed grant for kids raised by their grandparents

The Parenting Network was recently awarded a $100,000 grant by Bader Philanthropies, allowing the Milwaukee nonprofit to expand its mission of providing free, voluntary, confidential, and easily accessible programming for people in a parenting role, as a way to help them provide a safe and nurturing home for their children. The funding, distributed across two years, will allow The Parenting Network to implement evidence-based parenting and family support systems specific to grandparents in order to meet the need in southeastern Wisconsin. VetsNet expanded local service to help at-risk veterans and their families in 2018

Wisconsin Veterans Network (VetsNet) recently announced that it reached two major milestones in 2018, making it a landmark year for the new organization. VetsNet served its 1,000th Wisconsin veteran in need of aid or emergency services and was awarded $150,000 in grants to continue its critical work in supporting the most vulnerable veterans – including those experiencing homelessness, health crises or employment struggles – in the Wisconsin community. Bus route improvements and service changes rolling out for MCTS in 2019

The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) announced several route improvements and changes in late 2018 that took effect on January 6. To provide faster and more efficient service on 27th Street, Route 27 was fully merging with the PurpleLine. All buses and trips that travel on 27th Street will simply be known as the PurpleLine.
