Milwaukee’s annual “Project Clean & Green” returns to collect oversized garbage for free

The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DWP) annual Project Clean & Green (PCG) will run from May 6 to June 24, with all residents assigned to one of seven collection zones. Normally, residents are charged $50 to $150 for all bulky item pick-up requests larger than one cubic yard, about the size of an easy chair. City moves forward on streetcar expansion plans with The Hop for 2020 DNC and beyond

Mayor Tom Barrett and Common Council members gathered with local business leaders in Bronzeville on May 2 to announce the city’s proposal for expansion of the streetcar line ahead of the 2020 Democratic National Convention. The press conference took place at Gee’s Clippers, which would be along the northern route of the new King Drive extension. The plan seeks to add 2.4 miles to the existing 2.1-mile streetcar system, but it must first be approved by the Common Council. Block party for Jane’s Walk MKE kicks off monthlong exploration of a shared Milwaukee for 4th year

In its fourth year, Jane’s Walk MKE encourages Milwaukee residents to walk, talk, explore, and reimagine the city together during the month of May. There are more than 40 free, community-led tours and social opportunities to engage the public in exploring their own and other neighborhoods around the city. “Day Without Latinxs & Immigrants” strike calls for statewide restoration of driver licenses

Thousands of people marched on the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison as part of the Day Without Latinxs & Immigrants on May 1, a statewide general strike urging the state legislature to restore access to driver licenses for immigrant families. More than 180 businesses were closed throughout the state on the day. City’s first Eco Tour destination showcases green transformation of Lindsay Heights neighborhood

Mayor Tom Barrett and the city’s Environmental Collaboration Office have created programs and worked with local partners for the past several years to make Milwaukee into an ecoCity, with Lindsay Heights bearing the literal fruit of that labor.
