Exhibit of nature-inspired art on display at botanical gardens

Inspired by nature, Briede Ibar has exhibited in shows across the country since the 1990s. Julie Briede Ibar’s highly rendered oils of flora and fauna and a specimen series of watercolors are on display through July 31 in the Garden House at Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 Boerner Drive. Works range in size from the diminutive six-by-six-inch specimen boxes with “pinned” watercolor studies to the 25-by-41-inch oil on board of lupines. Streetcar construction on target to meet minority employment and contracts

City of Milwaukee officials confirmed that the Milwaukee Streetcar project is on target to meet its goals of hiring City residents for 40% of labor hours, and for contracting with disadvantaged businesses for 21% of construction work. Department of Public Works Commissioner Ghassan Korban said that while the project is just getting underway, hiring and contracting goals are on target. Baptista’s Bakery plans $7.8M snack factory expansion

Baptista’s Bakery LLC, a subsidiary of Snyder’s-Lance Inc. and a leader in snack food innovation, is expanding its operations in Franklin to continue to meet the growing demand for its specialized products. Oncology journal publishes study of African American breast cancer survivors

Melinda Stolley, PhD, associate director of Cancer Prevention and Control at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Cancer Center completed a study, Moving Forward, with 250 African American breast cancer survivors, successfully implementing an intervention to help these women make and maintain positive changes in weight, eating habits, physical activity and social support networks.
